Some people asking about blind on a platform. Here it is finished.

Here's what's in front of it. 2 acres corn planted July 11. I planted late hoping acorns fall and the deer not eat it all early. Seems to be working.
 
I built it 7 foot tall. That's just the height 4 x 4 I had. Platform is 8 foot x 8 foot. I put carriage bolts thru front the bottom and screwed nut in them to hold tight. Then put blind anchor straps over bolts a held down with washer and wing nuts. I think it will work.

Buddy of mine done this same thing over his clover plot. Since there isn't a large enough tree for a stand. He's killed a few bucks and turkey from it.

I've seen this done where they put a 2x4 railing
Around it and painted it camo. Actually give it
a gun rest a some saftey factor too.

A buddy and I put one like this on a 2 man quad pod prior to season opening. It looks really good. The quad pod itself has a wrap around shooting rail which serves as that, a safety feature preventing falling out, and a support for the blind itself.
 
As stated above, I would want some kind of rail around it for safety. Preferable inside where it could do double duty as a shooting rest. If you lose your balance and start to fall, your instinct is going to cause you to grab for the wall to steady yourself. As it sits, the wall is going to give way and let you fall. Other than this one detail, it looks great to me.

Well, I heard some idiot tracked mud all thru the house with his muddy boots! :mrgreen:

Part of why I asked that question is because I also built an 8' x 8' platform a few years ago, very similar to yours. I found out that a single cross member was not enough to properly support a couple 3/4" 4x8 pieces of plywood. Sometime next spring, I'd highly recommend several coats of Parker's duck boat paint on that floor, then topped with an outdoor carpet.

I also built a 4' x 7' platform, and will never do that again, i.e. just too much sawing and too much work, when it would have been so much easier to have made it either 4' x 8' or 8' x 8'. If using a pop-up blind on it, 8'x8' is the way to go. :)
 
I used the 4"X4" Elevators with 4"X4"X8' treated posts and attached them to 2"X6" beams with 2"X6" floor joists underneath a 3/4" marine grade plywood platform. I made mine 6'X8' and put a Rogers Vision blind on top of it. I secured the blind to the platform using 5/8"X1 1/2" lag screws thru each corner grommet of the blind. It's tight as Richard's Hatband. Also attached a 2"X2" railing along the end next to the blind door. I picked up a Black Out Adjustable Height swivel arm chair from Bass Pro for it and I really like the setup.
