Blind brush that will root?

We have a blind built up high in the shade of some trees and a couple willows we brushed with last year had green leaves on them last week when we checked it out.

Are there any other species of trees that are good about doing this? Its going to have water around it most of the year and its high enough that it wont be a problem to let stuff grow pretty tall around it. We've used tons of oak, cane, button bush, and cypress and never gotten the results we got with the willow.

Any ways to encourage the willow to root? 90% of what we used didn't take root.

Any of ya'll ever planted something for living brush? vines or whatever?

Willow will resprout from cutting nearly 100% if you cut it in winter and plant it immediately. You need ~2' pieces. Drive them into the ground halfway, small end up. If you want oak, etc, I'd plant bare root seedlings.

I've moved cane before by digging up the rhizomes but had limited success and what did transplant took forever to root.

The run into our ditch is a beaver run. Probably a matter of time if they did root. We have buck brush all around it but it's not as tall or dense as I'd like.

I don't think so, not unless I brought some dirt in. Willows don't even grow there naturally. Pretty much Cypress and button bush.

That or a sledgehammer. You don't need entire trees, just 1'-2' stakes.
