Blackjack Oak

I have read that Blackjack Oak ( Quercus marilandica ) is noted for dropping acorns later than other native oaks. Can any of you confirm this? If so, when does the Blackjack begin to drop? And is it a sustained drop over a period of days/ weeks or an immediate unloading? Any other particularly late-dropping oaks ( native or otherwise ) that you are familiar with? I really do appreciate any input my Tndeer friends can share- HMH

I have hunted blackjack oaks during bow season in Illinois. I don't recall them dropping particularly late. I also haven't seen many in Tennessee. Northern red oaks and scarlet oaks are usually the latest droppers in middle Tennessee.

They were,Blackjacks,all over in SC.Dont remember em producing that many acorns.Course that could have been a local name for em,very small,mostly grew in the very sandy areas of SC.
