Went to the range today to try the blackhorn out that I got for xmas, and I must say im very very pleased with the stuff.I also wanted to try some different bullets,to get away from the Hornady FPB bullet, while its been good to me over the past 2 or 3 years,im wanting to mix it up a bit.So I had 1 pack of TC shockwave 250gr bonded bullet in the super glide sabot, and 1 pack of the TC shockwave 250gr controlled expansion bullet in the mag express sabots. I didn't adjust my scope,I just shot 3 bullets of each and the controlled expansion bullet in the mag sabot, gave me about a 5 inch group, and then the bonded bullet in the super glide sabot gave me what you see in the pic.I can't argue with that, that is at 100yds useing 100grs of blackhorn 209,after about the 5th shot the groups start opening up,but it never was hard to load.
I shot 10 times useing these sabots without swabbing the barrel, and it still was easy to load, just as easy as the first shot.Only reason I swabed was because of the accuracy was declineing. I believe i've found the bullet im gonna use this fall, gonna get me another pack or 2 of them and work with the powder and see if I can't close the group up some.It has about half the amount of smoke as 777 does,I really like that,I won't have to worry about trying to see around the smoke to see which way the deer ran.Overall Im very pleased with blackhorn and I do believe i'll continue useing it until the next best thing comes along..LOL So if anyone wants to try some Hornady FPB's out,i've got some for free, just send me your addy...
