I am trying to switch over. I fired the first few rounds yesterday (12 total to get scope sighted in)and wasn't impressed with accuracy. I'm shooting a CVA accura with 250 gn TC shockwave and 80 gn powder weighed out on a scale. This is where I'm confused I guess. From what I'm understanding 84 gn is the most they recommend or am I wrong on that? I don't know where to start as far as changing things. I'm getting about a 2" group at eighty yards. Any guidance would be appreciated.
 
Here is the formula that I use for determining my loads:


Blackhorn 209 VOLUME to WEIGHT calculator:

VOLUME in GRAINS BH209 / 1.5 = WEIGHT in GRAINS BH209

OR... VOLUME in GRAINS BH209 X 0.667 = WEIGHT in GRAINS BH209


I shoot 100 grains by volume which is 67 grains by weight. Your 80 grain by weight would be 120 grains by volume and they only recommend loads as high as 120 grains (which I think is for safety reasons).

I would recommend backing off your load down to 100 grains to start with and see if accuracy improves. If not work up to 110.

I have an accura and shoot 90g by volume, 295 g power belts and they will touch at 100yds. I can shoot all day and not have to swab. The BH does seem to build a carbon ring in breech plug that has to be cleaned out really good or you could get a misfire. I love how this stuff cleans up also, very clean.
