New to this stuff. Shooting a tc encore going to start off with 100 grains by volume shooting a 250gr Barnes spit fire tmz. My question is the primer. I picked up some federal premium muzzleloading primers from Wally World are these hotter than the Winchester triple 7 primers?

Don't order them. Buy a pack at your local gun shop. And I shoot that same combo so I'd recommend 110 grains of Blackhorn 209 with that bullet.

You definitely want either CCI209M or Fed209A for the long Encore type plug. The shorter Omega type plug is fine with a standard Win209 or CCI.

No muzzleloading primers at all....They are all too weak for BH209. Some people have used 5-10gr of real black or Triple7 first as a "igniter" charge with weaker primers. To me that kind of defeats the big benefit of BH209.

Make sure to keep the flash CHANNEL cleaned out with a 1/8" drill bit. It will save you tons of aggravation. Dont be fooled into thinking its smaller. The carbon gets super hard and may require a smaller bit first but the T/C plug's channel is 1/8th".
