I have A bunch of the moultrie 55IR cameras and the deer always notice them and they arent fond of them. I dont know if they see the light or here the relay inside of them when they take the picture, but I would like to know if the newer black flash cameras are noticed by them when they take a picture. Does it bother them like the IR models? Thanks for your help.
 
They may notice the camera hanging there on the tree, but they won't see the black flash at night. If you get a really small black flash camera like the Covert MP6 Black, and you put it a little higher on the tree and aim it down a bit, then they may not even notice the camera itself. I put out a new Covert MP6 Black a little over a week ago and I was blown away by how small it is compared to my other cameras.

Except I don't even bother to hang a black-flash camera up out of a deer's vision. They will notice the camera box of a black-flash, and appear skittish about it the first time they see it, but once the camera does nothing threatening (like flash), they learn to ignore it.
 
Hope to own a couple of those coverts soon I have never owned a camera but looking at picture quality compared to others it's amazing and through in the size and black flash so deer shouldn't spook I am anxious to try them.

I wouldn't worry about the deer seeing the camera itself, it's not like they don't get used to inanimate things that just sit there. But the IR flash going off when they walk by, yeah they do notice that, and I might quit using IR in areas where I think there may be a good buck. I have several pics of deer blurred out cause they jumped or something when the cam went off. The black flash cam I have seems to go less noticed and doesn't make the loud noise the moultrie does when it switches from day to night mode (moving the IR filter on/off the lens)
 
If the IR cams are all I can afford right now, is it advisable to try to hang them higher in the tree? If so, how should I go about doing that?

Most carry a small step-ladder with them, or climb up on their ATV/UTV to hang the camera.
