They morning started off With 3 toms and 8 or 9 hens roosted about 80 to 100 yards from us. We had a group of deer come in behind us and ruin everything. They would stomp, blow and runoff then come back do it all over again. This got the turkeys nervous so they stayed in the tree late and flew across the holler to the neighboring property. We head out to another property and get to our listening spot. We set down and call a little. We hear a gobble around 600 or 700 yards away. So we jump up and close the distance to about 150 yards. We setup right inside the woods and start calling. It took about 30 minutes to work them into about 60 yards. It was 2 lone toms. I made one more series of soft yelp and they came in to 35 yards. But he is behind a tree so I tell him as soon as he clears the tree go ahead and take him. 9 1/4 beard 1 inch spurs and around 20 pounds. It was a awesome morning for his 14th birthday!
