Major problem with birds this year. Mostly mockingbird's
Poking holes in everything, I put out an owl. Not much luck with it.
Any tips keeping them away?
 
Are they getting mainly your tomatoes? I try to keep mine picked as soon as they start to turn color. Also, keep water out for the birds. They say sometimes they peck for the water . I also cover clusters of tomatoes sometimes with pieces of onion sacks. Keeps the birds from seeing them so easy.
 
We keep out water but I removed it the other day.
As dry as it is I think it was attracting more and more birds to the garden.
I've always picked as soon as they start turning, but for some reason the green ones are getting tore up with holes.

I'd put the water back. I'd say pecking green ones is sign of thirst.

I would agree
Although with that water gone I've seen less activity
Last week I counted 15 mockingbirds jumping around the garden at the same time
It's a battle
 
Best you can do is cover them with something unless you can thin out the birds with a gun. The only thing to scare them off that works well is those air powered dancing man.
