Season has been a wild one so far. Roosted this bird night before opener. I got within 50 yards of him and he flew down perfect except behind brush. I let him gobble a min then hit him with a call. He strutted and headed the other direction. He'd gobble every now and then and shut up. I left him and ended up getting another bird I called in shot and wounded in my face by some jacka$$ from Louisiana. I hunted him Sunday with no luck so went to a different wma the next 2 days. I decided to try out this first wma again today with no hopes of this bird being alive still so I went another ridge over. Lo and behold about 6:05 he lit up on the same roost and I went after him. He responded on the limb and a few times on the ground before he didn't same exact thing he did Saturday. This time I looped him but he stayed below me and too thick to see so I went back to the other ridge knowing they work that way. Nothing for an hour so I went walking. I came back about 1030 and he gobble one time. I went to him waited for another gobble 30 min later and hit the call. He responded. I waited there for about 30 min and he was on the ridge I was on prior, so I told myself to shut up this time and follow the gobble or else he run again and be gone. I crept along the bench and he shocked gobbled a few times. As the wind blew I'd make a move til i finally had in eye sight. 6 miles later and A little crawling and i finally got to end that fight at 12:18.
