Binoculars!!!

Well, I made a big investment in some quality optics. After research, I bought the Nikon Monarch ATB 8x42 RealTree binos yesterday! What binoculars do you use and when do you use them?

Kahles 8 x 42, use them always while on stand and still hunting. You will find glassing constantly will reveal more than you ever knew. Buy a quality binocular harness and wear them all the time, you will never know they are there after awhile.

The question was about binos.

I may have killed more deer with a 30-30 than you have.
It's not the most efficient gun for Whitetail hunting compared to other rifles.
Just a fact of ballistics.
I still own a sweet Winchester.

I thought about buying one of those myself,but don't know if they fit Swarovski.

Is there a price diff?
My Swar's are a little over a grand,but worth it.
Either choice is a good one.
I never hunt without them.
I know deer hunters who never use binos,and miss more game that they know. Even with good eyesight, it is easy to not see game in the field.

There is about a $500-$600 price difference depending on where you buy it. The Meoptas are less expensive.

Cabelas prices:
SLC's are $1540
Meopta's are $900 on sale

I found a deal on the SLC's for $300 on the net.
I used my Cabelas points to buy the Meopta's, so I have about @200 invested in them.

I like to buy high quality stuff, but I don't like to spend the money. To call me cheap is not an insult.

By the way, there is a pair of Cabelas Euro Binos for sale in the classified forum. They are the same exact Binos as the Meoptas - I mean absolutly no difference, exept the logo. I believe he wants about $500 for them. That's a great deal. Just price them on e-bay. I have offered everyone to come to my house and compare their binos to my Meoptas to see if they want to travel to buy the Cabelas ones. So far, no takers.

D...! 8 x 40 Goldcrest. Probably 50 years old, that I inherited from my dad. He probably bought them at one of the early "Marts" in Memphis. Don't use binocs at all in the East,at least not while hunting in the hardwoods, but do use them antelope hunting, just so's I can get a feel for what kind of horns a buck has. I used them in Limon this year along with my Simmons 8 pt scope. But, hey, I did stay at the Holiday Inn Express in Limon!

I use the Swarovski 8 x 32s and love them. They have saved many a spike from getting shot thinking it was a doe. Bought them originally for a Canadian bear hunt but don't go anywhere without them any more. The harness is a great way to keep them close but out of the way.

I had some 4x's but they messed up. You get what you pay for. Just used my scope last year. Thought about getting some more but haven't yet.

I use a couple models of Leupold Wind River. Gun hunting in fairly open terrain I use an 8X42 model, but for bowhunting I use a pair of Yosemite 6X32. They are much lighter than full size Binocs, and much better than the "compact" models.

Nikon Monarch 10x42's. I love them to death. They kind of spoil you with their light gathering, though. Last night I saw a HUGE buck real late with my Nikons but I couldn't see it through my scope. It was really painful to see such a huge deer that late and not be able to do anthing about it.

Please don't glass the woods with your scope.It is not safe.Please don't argue that it is...we have already beat that dead horse. Use binos or eyeballs.

I bought a pair of Steiner Predator 10x50's at Bass Pro a few months ago. They were usually priced at 969 + tax, but they were missing the bino case and the rubber lense cover that is built onto the neckstrap so they sold them to me for 459 + tax and gave me a Leupold bino case. They are brand new , never sold or returned so I couldn't pass them up for that price. I haven't used them hunting yet , but I like them so far.
