The 2nd Catoosa Hog hunt was rough. Hogs were as scarce as hens teeth. Got a little one yesterday, no pics. Then this big boy today 214lbs dressed. It may have cost us a good old dog though. I stitched and stapled her back together but only time will tell. :(

Nice one,I was up there on a deer hunt several years ago and a guy killed one that was suppose to be a the biggest killed in TN at that time,he loaded it in the trunk of a big Ford car and the bumper was dragging the ground,

FWIW.

Pack your pup's gash with salt, keep him warm and dry not hot, feed em some good high protein food. good luck on that, I'm not a big dog guy but houds have always amazed and intrigued me.

I've never heard of salting a wound like that. This was a little more than just a gash though. She's doing great so far

If its a bad wound salt will hurt, BAD. You can also check with vet, obviously. Lol

The salt inhibits bacterial growth and draws fluid to instigate new tissue growth.

Well it was a sucking chest wound. I stitched the chest wall up. Put in a drain tube and stapled the skin back. Started her on antibiotics and she is doing well. She'll be hunting in a month, hopefully.

Wow, sounds like you didn't need my 2 cents worth. Lol
My pup would've just died.

Did you do that yourself?

Yep, she's doing great too. I am very observant when I go to the Vet. I've had $1000's worth of lessons unfortunately

glad 2 see you boys doing a great job of population control maybe TWRA would hire you to eradicate the wild hogs on catoosa and save some money they have spent for that

FREE what do you mean FREE? I dont understand how you could do it for free when they have spent so much time and money to get rid of a animal,Seems backwards to me,If people like you would do it free why such a big uproar over hogs??? I have never hunted hogs so maybe i saw the wrong picture of what is going on
