Caught this fluke on a 3/8 ounce pink/white bucktail tipped with a piece of squid. Here in New Jersey the minimum is 18" and it's tough to catch one over 16 right now. This fish was 24" and weighed 5-3. We're gonna cook it up tomorrow evening....

I also had 2 lines with clam and squid and caught 2 skate, a small striper and thrn 16" flounder on the bucktail before the tide quit coming in, then the bite turned off.

Skate is good eating too. The poor man's scallop. Many imitation scallops are skate wings punched with a cookie cutter.

Too true. If you are eating large scallops that are all the same size, it is very likely you are eating skate wings.

Above Mason-Dixon Line: "Youse gies grill your flukes?"
Below: we fry'em and call'em flounder!!!!!!

I've spent a lot of time around saltwater (Carolina's) and I've never heard anyone call'em flukes except for the old joiseey guys with their shorts pulled up to their chins and white socks pulled up to their knees. Hahaha
That's a good one regardless of what you call it!
