My 11 year-old has been hunting with me all week. He has never once complained about getting up early being bored or being cold. We have continued to pass small buck after small buck, knowing the area that we were in was gonna produce a shooter at some point. Well, it all came together yesterday as this was the second Buck that we saw that morning. This deer came out from our front left out of some thick stuff, and I immediately knew he was a shooter, but had no idea how big he actually was. I had to adjust the seat in my ladder stand to get him face the right way to get a shot off, after about 30 seconds of doing that the buck stopped behind a huge thick brush and I lost him what I thought was forever but was really only probably about 30 seconds. He took three more steps and I knew there was an opening where I could get him to stop. He got to the perfect spot and I hit the grunt call and my son fired away. The shot was perfectly placed double Lung and we watched the deer fall about 15 yards from where he was shot. I knew he was a big deer but when we walked up on him, I was in awe , my 11 year old had just killed 150 inch deer which he may never have an opportunity to kill something bigger. For those that are wondering the deer was killed in Northwest Tennessee. View attachment 303310
What a buck. Super happy for you guys

Dang, that will be hard to top! So who was the most nervous and the most excited? Congratulations to both of you!
It all happened so fast and I was so focused on getting him set to shoot that I had no time to truly focus on his rack. We both remained calm until we saw him drop. We both screamed in joy after he dropped.

Thanks for sharing. As I recover from back surgery, I figured I'd take liberty to modify the pic. Hope that's cool

Oh MY, CONGRATS to both of you dad. Nice job, and tell your son he did great and made a perfect shot. I hope that is able to get on his bedroom wall or somewhere in the house.
I have several in my living room from over the years. He has already chosen a spot for his deer front and center in the living room!
