BH BP's or not?

So can I continue to use my stock 209 primer BP with BH209, or not? I'm headin' out to try it now, in my factory CVA Kodiak Mag.

Hear you can get misfires from ml primers . The cci magnum and federal are reccomended as they are hotter

Regular Winchester 209s were inconsistent in my Optima. I got a box of 1000 Federal 209A this weekend.Haven't tried them yet.

Which would be hotter, 777 or Rem Kleanbore? These are the only two I have at present.

MUP everything I hear is that the muzzleloader primers aren't hot enough for the BH209 powder. The regular Winchesters I had would hang or misfire every 2-4 shots if I didn't clean with a drill bit. That's why I got the Federal primers. I'm not sure which of those would be hotter.

I shot BH209 for the first time and loved it! I had some "ML" 209 primers and the first few shots hesitated. I poped about 10 primers through it without loading it and after that it worked fine. I probably won't buy those primers again.

Well, I put 8 shots downrange using the Rem Kleanbores wo any problems...old ones too, probably 8-10 yrs old Not pleased with my groupings tho. 2-1/2 in at 100 yds with 60 gr weighed charge. This is what I calculated to be just a tad over what I was using with 90 gr of Pyrodex. I also shot 55 gr and 65 gr charges that were a little worse. I plan to shoot some more refined charges as soon as I can, like 57.5 and 62.5 to see if that makes any difference.

Now it was pretty awesome to just keep loading wo having to swab the barrel each time.

No doubt it cleans up a breeze. Glad the primers worked. 90 grains by volume and a 350 grain FBP were grouping 1 1/2" for me. I'm more than pleased with it.

I'm just shooting 260 gr saboted lead projectiles....maybe on the light side?
