I just used Dexron II Automatic Transmission Fluid to restore a
Walther P-38. I was amazed at the results. Saw the ATF idea on a gunsmithing website a few weeks ago. Remove the grips and drop it in a container that is deep enough to submerge the firearm.
I am about to restore a Belgium Browning pistol with it next week.
