Best Insulating Layer

I'm kind of a hunting gear junkie. I love my gear and have no problem paying for quality.

Columbia's Omni-Heat line is similar to Arctic Shield. Of all the insulating layers I've tried, Columbia's insulated jacket and/or vest with Omni-Heat have been the best to date. These layers are incredibly warm without the extra bulk.

They do not offer these layers in camo. This is not an issue since I wear a shell layer over the top. I highly recommend this piece if you are looking for a quality insulating layer for your system.

I saw camo overalls/bibs at BassPro this weekend that had a reflective silver liner. Pricey stuff, looks like it came straight off the space shuttle, but light weight compared to the heat retention it provides. (I can't remember the brand name)
Would love to try them out.

I have the Columbia omni heat pants, if I go back to BPS and they have another medium on sale I'm gonna buy another pair. Now idk how good they'd be in extreme cold but I've worn them with Rocky mid level thermals lately and I really like them. They have convenient pockets, theyre comfortable, seem well built, and warm. The inside is weird with that silver stuff though. For me they're the kind of pants i need most of the time. Bow season is usually warm but toward the end of bow season these were good with no thermals and later it gets cold enough to prob want to throw my bibs on but most of the time these are just right.

I just bought a of these this weekend. They were down to $120 from like $220 I think the tag said. I used them this morning, and seemed to be nice. They were definitely lighter than my old Cabelas brand bibs and were just as warm as far as I could tell.

I bought the redhead bone dry coveralls at bass pro a couple of weeks ago. In all honesty, I don't think it will ever get cold enough here for me to walk around in them. They are waterproof and wind proof. They are not bulky, but they are the warmest coveralls I have ever owned.

This past weekend I wore ua cold gear base then a warm up set, then my Columbia (granger i think its called)wool blend bibs and jacket. I was nice and confortable on the stand and its not to much to walk around in. I can't hardly wear my arctic shield jacket and bibs for sweating to bad if I decide to get down and walk.
