I am going to get a very nice 30 06 put in working order pretty soon. What is the best grain bullet for deer hunting here in TN? Most of my shots will be within 150 yards, but some out to 250 yards. I was thinking 150 grain Remington Core Lokts.

I am trying to narrow it down between the 150, 165 , and 180 grain. I am leaning towards the 150 grain, but haven't shot anything out of the rifle yet.

That'll be the determining factor, when you shoot it. Let the rifle tell you what it likes best.

Stats show 180 gr in .30 cal rifles have the best ballistics and energy at ranges within 300 yards. I shoot 180's in my 06 right now, but I have killed with 150, 165, and 180.Most shots around here are well within 300.(average for me is 50-90 yds) but its up to what you feel comfortable with, shootin abilities and set up. JMO.
