Just out of curiosity, what's wrong with a Glock vs a more expensive clone?
Not a thing, and I proudly own a few that are 100% stock unmodified. I handled a Shadow Systems today, and it appears to basically be a factory made/assembled version of what a lot of people customize their Glocks to be. It was really nice and just got me thinking what other brands are similar. I think Zev is one, and they are another price bracket over the SS brand.

Like many things folks may like, the upgrades and extra expense are probably not necessary.

I've shot several clones and owned a couple. Honestly I prefer to buy stock and make my own changes at this point. That way I can put in place what feels right for me instead of what a brand thinks fits most. I will say Zev and Faxon are two I liked the most.

With all the Polymer 80 building going on right now, there are TONS of options to customize an OEM Glock frame.
Slides, barrels, sights, triggers, releases, etc.
You can even buy a stripped, serialized frame and start from scratch.
I thought ARs were plug and play, Glocks are pretty much the same.
