Myself and some friends are looking for a lease in this area. What is the best county in your opinion? We may have 300 acres that borders FCF but if it falls through what would you suggest? We are mainly after big bucks. We have all hunted for a number of years. Thanks for any advice!

Be hard to beat the west side of FCF if you want to stay in that area. 3 larger landowners with good habitat and management for older deer.
Low deer density can lead to better deer age structures because of lower hunter density. Any place on plateau can produce a mature 4.5+ deer. But rarely happens due to them getting killed before reaching maturity.
Remember that it typically takes a 3.5 year old buck on plateau to score 105 inches. So dont expect to kill 150" deer every year. But occasionally it happens all over the plateau.
I have held/scored bucks over 150" from marion, rhea, van Buren, white, Cumberland, fentress, bledsoe, sequatchie, and Putnam counties.

Thanks for the information! I hope to get in the area soon. The land we were looking at was on the west side of FCF. Would have been great but gotta move on. Any area you would focus on most? Is the Rock Island area of VB county good?
