best compact rangefinder for less than $300

not going to spend over $300, it is mostly going to be for bow and muzzleloader.

Bushnell Yardage Pro 450 $150 has worked great for me for 2 years! Money you save...buy some ammo!

I have 2 friends who use Bushnells,and they are OK.
We all agree the RX-II is overall a better product.
A little more money,but not much, and well worth it IMO.

I admit that my rifle scopes and spotting scope all all Leuopld and I am a fan.
The only non Leupold optic product I own are some Swarovsi binos.

Before buying almost anything hunting related I use the Cabelas review section. Found it to be a lot of good reliable info from real users. I read more negative reviews about the RX-II than I wanted to read. I held me off buying it for a while.
I did more research, etc,and the better choice was the Nikon riflehunter.

Because I am so satisfied with my other Leupold products,bought it anyway.Also after holding the Nikon and the RX-II side by side in BP, it just looked like a better quality product. Smaller,smoother, etc.

Now that I have used the RX-ii for a few weeks getting ready for bow and rifle season, I like it,and have not had any problems. Hopefully it continues working well.

after playing around with a few different ones...I ended up buying a Nikon ProStaff 550 for $199 at Academy. It is really fast reading and easy to target smaller objects with, very precise. I was a little spooked from some of the negative reviews on the Leupold

think i am going to really like this Nikon!

Ordered a new Bushnell Scout 1000 over ebay. Great price, even before manufacturers rebate. However, when I received it, the battery cover would not open, of course, making the unit inoperative. Returned it, and seller(a company) told me yesterday that another one has been shipped to me. Assuming the new one gets here, I like the compactness, and the feel. Now all it needs to do is range those goats for me!
