Best Climber?

I got a place that I'm going to new a climber, I actually hate them, mainly cause I hunt mostly my land, so I don't worry about climbers. I'm 57, heavy wieght, will be hunting mostly with MZ, packing in and out.

Safety first for me, then ease of use and comfortable

So what you say? And why?

I'm like you Jimmy, I hunt private land and I always hunt from ladder stands and box blinds. I told a friend of mine about the treewalker stands after I saw one. I tried it out at his house after seeing it in his garage last year. If I ever need to buy another climber, I think I'll but the treewalker. It's pretty light, solid, and real comfortable.

Get a summit Titan comfortable and relatively light. Its made for a larger person .

Summit Titan or Summit Goliath. Per the website, the Goliath is 4 pounds lighter, 25 to 21. I'd shoot Gator-N-Buck a PM, he can take care of you.

I have had several Summits. A Goliath with surround seat, molle straps and footrest. Can sit in it as long as you want very comfortable, firmy grabs tree, stable. I am not a fan of heights but feel safe in it. But as others have said the tree walker is supposed to be a great stand too.

6'1" 295 lbs. I love my Summit Titan! Roomy, sturdy, and relatively light.

Summit goliath. The only difference between Goliath and Titan - titan has bigger for platform, which is of little use. Yet, it weighs 4 lbs more. Goliath with added footrest is the ticket.

Treewalker definitely gets the nod here. Have hunted from summit and API before also. Treewalker is rock solid and very comfortable. All day sits are no problem.

+1 for the Summit Titan. I've had one for a few years and love it. I'm 6' about 275 and I've got plenty of room. One of my biggest problems is many stands are narrow. I've got to sit on an angle for my shoulders to fit, but I've got a few inches of play with the Titan. It's very stable, quiet, and Summit customer service is top notch. I had an issue with mine back in '15 and Summit replaced the entire stand without any hassle. Another nice thing is the availability of accessories/replacement parts.

Summit fan here. I get by with the Viper but I'm sure the Titan or Goliath are just as good. One must have is a set of Stabilizer Straps from Third Hand Archery. I wouldn't use a climber without those straps.

My next stand will probably be a Treewalker. I have a API Grand Slam that I bought in 1998. I have one foot strap that is brokern. Probably will try to see if Summit stirrups adapt. I have a Summit Goliath. Just not a Summit fan. I'll probably sell it after this season. Don't like the cable system. Don't like that it bites the tree to the point of fighting it out of the bark. Some of my trees 20-22" and that doesn't work.

Another vote for TreeWalker (there's currently one for sale in the classifieds). They are rock solid and comfortable. Most of their models are enclosed and can be used as a sit down/stand up climber. I added stirrups to mine for easier climbing. BTW - I've had summit (old steel version), API, Loggy Bayou, and Lone Wolf... TreeWalker has given me the greatest sense of safety out of all of them and really has the features to back it up.

I have tried just about every climbing stand on the market. I hunt out of a climber almost 98% of the time. And I keep staying with my API Grand Slam. I have a couple made in 2004 and like those the most. Most of the time I have a long walk in and the API carries good. I like the fact that I can put it on the tree and climb up without making hardly any noise. My dislikes about the Summits, they have a spongy feel on the tree and don't grip the tree as good as the API Grand Slam. I tried the Treewalker XL this past year, I didn't care for how it packed together and how it carried. And it was somewhat louder while climbing than my APIs. Its mainly what you get used to and feel comfortable using.

Here's the guide I use when fitting a Customer in a stand.

Under 6'0" and 200 lbs. - Viper

6'0" to 6'2" and 200 to 225 - Goliath

Over 6'2" and 225 lbs - Titan

I have several Customers over 300 lbs and they get the Titan.

Treewalker.
Super safe as it bites the tree.
Very comfortable with mesh sling seat, super comfortable with the optional chill pad.
You'll be pressed to find a lighter climber to carry thru your woods.

If you are in Sevierville, Pigeon Forge or Gatlinburg anytime soon, I will let you test mine out on some trees.

All I've ever used is the summit viper classic. Used my dad's old one, then got my own. Cheap, safe, functional - a bit heavy, so you can work out and hunt at the same time.

Treewalker, although I'm sure a Summit would fit your needs too. Both are excellent stands and really comes down to preference. I think Treewalker would be the most popular stand out there if it was widely available like the Summits.

I'll also add that with the Treewalker you can face the tree and use the tree as a shooting rest. You can't do that with the Goliath or Titan.
