Best .222 Coyote Medine

Im going to start Coyote hunting. I have a Remington .222 with a 1 in 14" twist. I will be handloading. What bullet would you experienced hunters recommend that will stabilize in my barrel and have great performance as well. Looking forward to the recommendations.

Hammer has a 33g "Stone hammer" and a 44g "Hammer hunter". Both will stabilize in a 14 twist...and give you great speed.

I'll have to research those. 44gr sounds interesting, but i don't think I want to shoot anything over 45gr. Thanks.

I have 8 and 9 twists and shoot heavier stuff, but I've seen the 55gr vmax/zmax perform very well

I have some 50gr V-Max loaded up for my 220 Swift that I plan on trying out. They should be moving pretty fast.

I went to the Hammer Bullets website. Very interesting bullet designs. I like that you can order 15 at a time to load test. I ordered both the 33gr and 44gr. Thanks for the recommendation!

I haven't shot any of them yet, but I have some of the 44g loaded in the 225 to try. Also have a box of 33g but haven't loaded any yet.

You won't be disappointed. Look at the load data on their website and it will get you close. If your combination isn't listed, call Steve and he will get you the information.

Can't say for your rifle, but I load 55 grain tipped varmageddons for my 223's, and they are great for coyotes.

We shoot them just to bring the numbers down so I am not concerned with the hide…. I have shot them with cheap 55 grain 223 FMJ to Hornady TAP which was the LE version of the Vmax and honestly they all work fine… now if you are after the hide don't listen to me. lol.

My BIL has a triple Deuce 700 BDL with Varmint barrel and some kind of Leupold glass. If can't bury 5 shots in a dime at 200 he practically sheds a tear. If you handload, I know he will share his recipe.

This is with a cheap Nikon scope and American eagle 55 gr hollow points thru a Ruger American 22-250.

The varmints don't seem to complain. I think with that barrel twist, it would be more about stabilizing the bullet than performance.

I have knocked down quite a few dogs with 50gr Sierra Blitzkings. They are a bit hard on pelts but I never had one get away with a decently placed shot.
