Berger bullets

Was at the local store today and seen some Berger vld hunting bullets in 243/6mm. I think they were 95 grain. Have any of you used these. I know some of y'all have in the bigger calibers. Just wondering how these would be on deer. Also. What powder do you use for heavier bullets in 243. I've seen great reviews on imr 4064. I also have varget on hand but looking at other options too

I use slower powder for 100 gr bullets in 6mm Rem which is very close to the same thing,,4350 did well but I got more speed and good accuracy from RL19 and the Hornady 100 BTSP,,from the 26 inch barreled Rem 700 VLS I was getting over 3200 fps and really tight groups,,it would flatten a whitetail like it was struck by lightning,,after about 5,000 rounds with 70 NBT and XX.X grs 4064 for 3625 fps I finally burnt it up and traded it off for a 204

I use 44.5gr of H-1000 for the 105gr Berger bullets in my .243. I have never shot a deer with them but I get some good groups.

My best 5 shot group @ 100yds.

RL 19 works well with my 243 ACCUbonds. Heavier-100 and 105, IMR7828 is a very good option.

How do you like the accubonds. I've considered those too

I've always wondered about the VLD's in my .270, but wonder how they do on deer.

killed about 6 or so with 168 vld 7 saum 2765 fps

form 30 to 55 to 140 to 330 yds


all good clean kills

Accubonds are proving to be very accurate and performance on deer so far has been equal to Partitions. I am switching over from Partitions to Accubonds in everything but the 22-250.

You can use the same weight ballistic tip for load development and zeroing your scope. Switch to Accubonds and get the same exact POI. Partitions were always close, but you had to make adjustments and partitions are not cheap.

This buck was shot with a 150 gr Accubond ran 20 yards and dropped.
