One unique thing Bergara has done the past year is create a "small batch" gun. It is a very limited build (200 units) of something pretty unique. It is not for everyone as they are really expensive but they are cool builds. The 2nd one was introduced today and is a M40A3 clone in .308.

I'd like to see an impartial (although I know that could never happen ;) ) test of this rifle against off the shelf Remington's, Savages, Winchester, or even Bergara's own $1K B14.

At $3500 and you don't have glass on it yet, it must be one heck of a performer. :)

The point of the small batch is not necessarily to create the most accurate rifle imaginable, though it for sure will shoot. The goal with the small batch is to create a limited run of very unique rifles to sell to a very small group of people who have interest in that rifle. This in NO WAY is made to compete with a guy looking to build a $3500 custom rifle. It's simply a great rifle that is a unique build that will appeal to a very specific customer.

I'm not seeing it. $3500 for what they call an M40 clone and Bergara actions were never used by the military for M40s. They also want as much as one can put a custom together for. They'd be better off just calling them small batch rifles and not clones.
