So I picked my new SBE2 up yesterday. Ordered it from Whittaker Guns Wednesday morning, they shipped it that afternoon, and I picked it up from my FFL dealer yesterday. First purchase from them and very impressed. Their website sucks but its worth a phone call to them when you're looking. Anyway the reason for the post is what choke do y'all shoot for ducks? It came with a modified that can handle steel so figured I'd just use it. Any reason to try something else?

You will love the gun I have two of the sbe2 and one sbe1. I shoot a pattern master ext range in mine but the factory mod shot great also.

A lot of guys that duck hunt 45+ days a year use extended aftermarket tubes. As seldom as I duck hunt I've stuck with the factory mod or improved mod.

The guys I know that use aftermarket like brileys the best in sbe2s for ducks.

Check out Rob Roberts. He does a lot of custom benelli modifications along with other brands. He also makes chokes. He outta Arkansas. Seriously considering sending my next gun to him and let him work his magic.

What shells do you shoot with this choke?

Cheapest #2 shot I can find usually winchester experts. Shot some estates this year that shot well and hit hard but they were almost as dirty as the blue box federals.

Depends a lot on where your hunting and what waterfowl your keying in on. I shoot modified early wooduck and usually a full during late season.

The full and improved that came with it are stamped no steel. Shot some skeet with it this afternoon at a buddy's using the factory modified and think I'm gonna like it just fine. I normally duck hunt once a year and this will make twice next weekend so gonna go with it as is.

Thanks a bunch!

Nice looking gun. I like it. If you're going to do any more duck hunting this year, I have the Carlsons Waterfowl set (close/mid/long range) and Hevi Waterfowl set (mid/extended range) that you can borrow if you would like. I admittedly have not taken the time to pattern them myself.

I appreciate it but this is probably gonna be it for me.
