Here's a couple of photos of a benchrest adapter that I made to fit a 22 over the past couple of days. I drilled a hole through the stock and then inletted a space for a nut to fit inside the stock and epoxied it in place. I shaped a block of laminate until it fit the bottom of the stock approximately and then bedded it to the bottom of the stock with epoxy paste. Lastly I made an insert out of aluminum stock to epoxy in the bottom of the adapter to accept the allen head screw that holds all together. Now I have a flat bottomed 3 inch benchrest adapter to play with on my 22. Just some photos to share of a gun project.

Yeah, a good 3 inch benchrest bottom and a good mechanical beats a bipod any day as far as accuracy. I stink with a bipod. With the mechanical rest it's a much more solid rest and the more solid the better.
