Well since I now have the heavier Browning Eclipse 300wsm, I decided to lighten my Ruger M77 25-06 up some to make it more utility friendly. I swapped out the factory wood stock with a Hogue rubber over-molded stock. It was a drop in fit and feels great!!

What do you think of her now TnTrapper?

I been thinkin about that stock for my RUM to add a little weight,,I love the looks of the CDL stock I have but its a handfull with full house 200 gr loads,

From a convenience viewpoint, I understand completely, but from an appearance viewpoint, the wood is what makes that gun.

How much weight did it shave off?

Quite a lot!!!

I've got that same Ruger in 25-06 but I'd never be able to take off my laminate stock. I like it too much. I've got a 308 with the Hogue stock and I do love the grip and the feel of it though as far as functionality. Beautiful it isn't. Did you find that Hogue stock with the barrel channel to fit the heavy barrel Ruger or did you have to open the barrel channel?

Didn't have to do anything but take out the screws, swap stocks, and put screws back in. Perfect fit. It had the correct size channel from the factory.
