Here guys...you can impress the wife with your bread making skills too!

1 (12 fluid ounce) can or bottle beer
3 cups self-rising flour
3 tablespoons white sugar

1. In a large bowl, mix together the sugar and flour. Add beer and continue to mix, first using a wooden spoon, then your hands. Batter will be sticky. Pour into a 9 x 5 inch greased loaf pan.
2. Bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees ) for 50 for 60 minutes. The top will be crunchy, and the insides will be soft. Serve topped with butter or cheese spread.

Not trying to step on the original thread, just making an addition: In case you don't have self rising flour in the house and you want to make it from all purpose, here's how.

1 cup all purpose flour
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt

Mix together. Just triple the amounts for this recipe.

I would like to vouch for TNdeerguy's "Beer bread" recipe............I made a big ole cast iron pot of venison neck roast stew along with his bread.

My 11yr old boy said it was the best bread he ever ate, I too have to say it is some might fine stuff.

PS: I baked the bread in a 10" round cast iron skillet.

Now THAT looks to be some Good Eats!!!!

Does the flavor change with different types of beer?

Sam Adams bread tastes different than natural light bread?

I don't know, I only made the one batch..........I used a can of Rolling Rock.

I am sure there will be a very slight flavor difference with a stronger beer.

I think I will make two batches, one with sam adams and one with an amber bock and see what the difference is.

I got both batches in the oven as I type.

One with Sam Adams and one with an Amberbock. 30 minutes to go!!

I ate too much bread last night and I have a horrible headache. LMAO

I could definately tell a difference between the two. I will try a batch today with a typical domestic beer like budlight and see how that tastes. I liked it. Good recipe for sure.

I made some with a budlight this afternoon. I can definitely tell a difference in taste.

Oh yeah,I would suggest that if you want it to be soft from inside out I would bake it for 40 minutes. At 50-60 the outside is slightly crunchy with a warm soft inside.
