Buddy has a stainless savage ml2 50cal for sale..
They can start in the $500-600 range if you dont mind a 45cal. CVA Hunter, Apex and Scout v2 45/70s can all be converted to a 45cal smokeless ML. The CVA Hunter base price is well under $300 and conversion runs $200-300 depending on ignition type you want. You can also convert a H&R Handi rifle or a T/C Encore/Pro Hunter 45/70.
Other rifles and conversions will be closer to $900 or much more unless you find a deal on a MLII. People think MLIIs are gold now. I would rather convert the new Rem Ultimate if i was going to pay the asking price im seeing for a MLII.
Check with smokelessmz.com or Hankins Rifle. Both of them will convert 45/70 break actions. Hankins does lots of bolt action conversions too. SmokelessMZ aka Arrowhead Sporting Goods will also convert the older Rem700ML.

I ordered one of these from Carlos (Ed's Gun Shop, NC) last week and will be converting it to a smokeless in the coming weeks. Total cost with Luke's plug installed and shipped to my FFL will be about $600.GMB54":dr9y1bps said:

Yep and IMO its about the best deal going. Darn nice rig for the money. It will be interesting to see if sabots shoot through the brake ok even though most are probably shooting sabotless. I want one but i also want to shoot heavy conicals with BH209.
Last i heard it was $350 for the Scout V2. The older model is a little cheaper if you can find one. The CVA Hunter runs about $250 even at Cabelas. Labor was $200 for a 209 setup and $300 for a LRMP setup. Plus tax, any transfer fees and shipping.
This is the least expensive platform but he installed the LRMP module ignition system. The load he is shooting easily beat a Savage with book powders in fps. Should be in the 2500fps range.
