Been hitting it pretty hard this year with my BMC gyp Katie. Here are some tail gates shots from this season.

100 coons to the fur buyer. avg. $3.76 Terrible year for fur prices.

Year before last my son was hunting ole Katie girl...he cut her loose and she soon got hooked with the meat and my son rolled it out to her. he skins them out on the spot and did so. He cut her loose again and she was not gone long before he heard her yelp. He looked on the Garmin and she was headed back to him. He turned on his light and noticed right away there was only 1 eye reflecting back at him. He loaded her up and came on home and woke me up. I looked at her and she had what I thought was watering of the eye and thought she had just got some debris in her eye and waited to see what the morning would bring.There was no change and we loaded up and headed to our vet. It broke my heart when the vet broke the news to us that she would loose her eye. Apparently she had cleared a fence or deadfall in the woods and had run something completely through her eye dead center. What I thought was a watery discharge was actually eye fluid.I felt guilty at first for not waking the vet up but she assured me that the eye could not be saved regardless of when she got there.She removed her eye and trimmed her eye lids and sewed it shut. In the days that followed my heart was broke time and again as she would rub at her eye trying to get off what ever was covering it...not realizing or understanding that her eye was gone. :cry: She recovered very quickly and I was torn about hunting her ever again as she did not have any more spares....I did not agonize over this to long as this dog was bred and born to hunt! We hunted her as soon as possible and she treed 2 coons as quick as we could get to her! She did not miss a beat!This dog is like a child to us and lives inside and goes from couch potato to killer in a heart beat! lol Perfect? Nope...but she will die here.

The best night so far was 22 coons with the the worst being 5. We are still getting after them!

She is a dual purpose dog for sure.She is a better squirrel dog than coon but she aint no slouch in either department!
