Anybody got recs for any of the small nightstand biometric safes? My kids are getting to the age where they can snoop and get access to my pistols. I need something to prevent them from having access but I can get into quickly if needed.

There a lot of good ones out there. The one I have can be opened quickly by pushing a 4 button combo. It also had a cable that can be put around something like bed leg to keep someone from packing it off easily. The brand name is GunVault. I have it in a closet with the cable around a shelf. If someone wanted it they would have tear the shelf off the wall witch wouldn't be easy. I can get to it very fast from my bed.

My daughter uses this one. With a cable that attaches to the bedframe.

I have the same one so far no problems, it does require a good 9 volt battery like a duracell. I found that out the hard way after going through two different batteries.

Questions...
Once you have a dead battery, does the safe open or must you insert a good battery?

Is your key code the same afterwards??

If someone forgets the key code does the system lock up? What happens if YOU forget the key code?

Is the box secured to the top of the nightstand or someplace please don't tell us where.

I need something like this, just don't know if this is the one.

Once battery goes dead, replace battery.
Open with the supplied key and it does store the same code. Battery is inside.
It can be mounted....bottom mounted with bolts, screws,etc..

If you forget the code, open with supplied key and reset code.

I bought a cheaper one off amazon. Uses the 4 digit code. Comes with a key just in case. Does the trick. Keeps the kids out. I think I paid about 55 bucks.

I will never trust a biometric safe again. I am in the concrete buisness wich is not kind on the hands wich makes the biometric too erratic. Sometimes it will work and others it won't. I'm not sure of the brand.
