Beavers

Have a creek that runs between my property and my neighbors. He loves the beaver dams because it floods some of his land for duck hunting.
I hate the beaver dams because it REALLY floods my property.
What restrictions are there on tearing out beaver dams and killing/trapping beavers.
I assume if the dams are in the creek on my property I can do what I want them and beavers have no season correct?

Beavers have a year round season in TN with shooting hours the same as other furbearers (daylight hours only). Trapping is going to be more effective than shooting.

I'd check with your local regional office wildlife section on the dam issue to make sure there isn't some USACE permit needed to take it out. And, you probably need to check your deed if it is going to be a point of contention with your neighbor on where you could actually do the work if both properties own the creek.

My buddy has a beaver problem and traps them first then blows the dam up with tannerite. Seems to be pretty effective but usually has to do it once a year.

That's my plan but I'm not a trapper.
Thought maybe I could shoot them then blow it up and then shoot any that come back to rebuild.
Just really starting to research it but every spring I'm reminded how big a problem it is.....

Get you some 330 conibears and get on YouTube. Beavers are pretty easy to trap. I think you'd be wasting your time trying to shoot them because they are mostly nocturnal. Shouldn't be hard to trap out the entire colony but there will be more to take their place in a year or so. After you've caught them, the dams will take care of themselves, they won't hold water long if the beavers aren't tending to them.
