Beaver on WMA's and other public land.

I was perusing the regs the other day and I read that there are no limit on beaver as it pertains to small game hunting but in the Upper Cumberland WMA fur trappers need a permit. My question is, say I'm small game hunting a WMA/Public land can I take a beaver with hunting methods? Are the permits only required for fur trappers? I genuinely want to try some beaver meat but don't want to get in trouble, thanks.

Unless otherwise specified, it would be grouped in with the other furbearers and open if the same as statewide season. If it isn't set up like that, you would need to check with the regional office to make sure.
