Traded for a 336 30/30 at the last gun show. Thought it would make a great project. Refinished the stock and ordered a XS scout lever mount. Also grabbed a set of peep sights. Turned out good. I like the scout concept. This makes my second scout build. The xs mount took a little fitting to make it set right on the barrel. It mounts to the front scope mounts and to a replacement block you drift in to the rear sight dovetail. I am pleased with the look and the handling. Now just have to sight in the new irons and the scope. Ready for Catoosa with this bad boy. Probably make a good hog gun too...

Nice... Always wondered how hard it would be to gey used to the scout setup, but have always admired its function.

Actually, you would be surprised at how easily you would adjust. My first scope mounted gun was an Ithaca 37 featherlight 12ga. setup with a slug barrel and Luepold 2x scope (mounted on the barrel)

Basically the same as shooting a scope mounted pistol (same scope)Extended eye relief, just steadier.

The only drawback is the small optics avalible for that type of setup.
