I went down for a few hours today at lunch and sampled some Q. It didn't take long for the 90+ temps to run my sweaty cargo pants wearing self back into the office to soak up some A/C. I'm getting pretty lame in my old age.

Sounds like you met my team. We've gotten terrible.

3rd Place shoulder last year....31st this year. The ribs they tried to serve for dinner wouldn't pass muster at a Barnhills buffet. About 10:30 Friday night, the smoker started emitting a ripe funk that most closely resembles a tire fire. A rushed attempt to rescue the meat was too little too late. I'm not sure how the breakdown ended up, but 31st is 31st. It's a long fall from the top.

I think we're on the verge of a mutiny.

Jeez

OK, see if you can find out if those guys were spinning a line of crap when they got their exotic trophy.

Supposedly, they entered cream cheese-stuffed, bacon wrapped jalapeos. That doesn't jibe with the rules, so the guy was either drunk or throwing the dogs off his trail.

Either way, there were a LOT of pissed off people in the crowd when he explained what a "Rat Rosie O'Donnell" was.

The category is "Anything But (pork)..."

Exotic is essentially anything that doesn't fit into the other "Anything But" sub-categories.

They are:

1) Beef
2) Poultry
3) Chicken Wings
4) Seafood

So really, exotic could be anything....venison, mail order kangaroo, or the preferred meat, lamb.

But when they said BACON wrapped stuffed jalapeos, people got a little wee-wee'd up.

So what were your whispered credentials? Were you part of an undercover reporting syndicate, or MiM hospitality judge?

"Anything but...." is the overall category, implying food that is not pork.

The "Exotic" category is a subgroup to the "Anything But..."

It seems to me that their entry was well worthy......I'm just a sore loser.

In all honesty, it really boils down to the judges.....I got 2 judges give my entry perfect 10's, and one judge give me a 9 for tenderness. I'm not sure how a medium rare piece of lamb tenderloin could be any more tender...
