I put the battery for my trolling motor in the back seat of my truck. It fell over without my knowing it, and now there's a lot of brown gunk. I assume that's some gel form of the battery acid. Do I need to do something to it, or is it okay? I don't know much about this stuff.

Assuming this is a lead acid battery...It will eat a hole in your seat. You need to neutralize the acid immediately with plenty of baking soda and water. Wear rubber gloves and don't rub your eyes/face.

Just for future thought, dont ever put a battery in the seat of your truck. As stated above, it will eat holes in stuff.

If it gets on the carpet/upholstery, the carpet glue will disintegrate and the carpet fibers will start falling out like crazy.

I had a battery fall over in the back of my Blazer, and just "wiped it off". Within a month, I had a giant bald spot in the back of my SUV where all the carpet that I even TOUCHED would come loose.

If you have cloth seats, you might be buying a new cover soon.

Friend of mine had one in the back of his Tahoe. Somehow it spilled or what ever, it ate threw the carpet and rusted the metal under that. He went and traded it in..lol
