Bass Cat Boat Question?

I'm looking to buy a used 2000 Bass Cat Panterra II bass boat. The boat is in really good shape. Has anyone on here ever had any experience with a Bass Cat boat? I don't know anyone who has ever owned one but I've heard alot of good things about them. If anyone has any information they could share I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks in advance!

Never owned one or even rode in one but I did look em over pretty good at Bassmasters Classic in Birmingham a couple of years ago. They appear to be a very well laid out bass boat. Lots of nice features. I don't think you could go wrong buying one at the right price. Good luck!

I don't know why but if you look on Bass Boat Central in the classifieds. There are more Bass Cats than any other boat. They are nice looking boat. But have never rode in one.

if i could justify spending $45k a Pantera 4 with a 200 SHO would be my boat of choice. best riding boat i have been in.

Those boats ride SOOO good in the water! Great balance and very well made!

The bigger boats are alot better than the 17'6. Rod's boat is a 21ft and it rides like a Caddy!

His is all digital dash, and if it goes out you will be out around 700 bucks. I'd buy one if I could find the right setup. like right now!

I have a 2011 PII, I have had a lot of different boats over the years and this is one of the best. Check the boat and motor over and if it looks good, go for it. Bass Cat customer service is top notch and when you call you actually get to talk to people.

Had one, loved it, it was stolen and completely destroyed except for the motor. Motor is for sale if anyone is interested. 200hp.

I think their weights are comparable to other manufacturers but Bass Cat hulls are more geared towards performance. My PII with a 200 will run 73-74 GPS all day long with two people in it. Top speed so far is 74.8 mph GPS.

I had a 1998 21 XD Bullet before with a 225 EFI, top speed in it was 78 mph GPS.

Which motor is on the boat? Be sure and get a compression check, no matter what. There are a few motors from 98-2000 that I would absolutely stray away from.

i have/had some friends that own BC's in louisiana and they liked them. i rode in them and they were real nice.

It has a 2002 225hp Mercury EFI on it. The motor has an all new powerhead on it with less than 20 hours on it. What do you think? I will be getting a complete printout on the motor and we will be taking it out this weekend on a test run on the water.

I'm not worried about speed with this boat. I will be fishing tournaments and need the storage space and stability more than anything. I have a really close friend who is a boat distributor in the south and he fouund the boat for me and the price is really good. I have found very few people that have anything bad to say about these boats. The boat is in really great shape, been garage kept and has all new upholstery. It is a single console model with the front deck extension so that the front fishing deck is huge. No gel coat problems and no stress cracks. The finish is like brand new and all of the instruments have been upgraded to the touch pad controls.

Unless something is different PII's are only rated up to 200HP. If it is overpowered then insurance may be an issue and some tournaments you won't qualify for.

That 225 EFI is a good engine - I had one on the Ranger I sold 3 years ago. Just don't expect any kind of fuel economy - it absolutely sucked the sides in on gas tanks!! Bass Cats are very well made and have great customer service. I've ridden in a 20' and it rode well.

Stay out of the throttle and it won't hurt you near as bad. As far as having a new powerhead and whether it'll happen again...is a gamble 50/50

That Bass Cat was THE BEST ridding bass boat i have ever been in.

Lost my best friend in 98 to a heart attack at 38 yrs old, Lots of good memorys though, in the woods and on the lake and in that Bass Cat.
He carried a picture of it in his wallet like you would the wife and kids LOL
His wife had me Drive it and his truck with his daughter by my side , behind the hurst in the funeral. The boat was also engraved on his 6ft tall headstone, along with his truck, fish,deer a lake scene with him fishing out of it.
Everytime i see one or hear about one, i think of him,sorry.
