awesome lookin finish on bolt and barrel,,who did the barrel?? I need something done on my 6.5x47,,it is still just polished stainless,,

7mm-08 on a long action,LOL. I had the action laying around and came across a new take off barrel. No didn't do anything to this older action. Kinda hated to flute the bolt. I may even throw a single shot follower in it. It was like this barrel was made for this action, I have put a few barrels on and have never came across one that screwed on and the factory lettering lined-up and headspaced perfectly. Plan on trying some heavier bullets.
 
I tried and tried to get they heavy bullets to shoot in my custom 708. I never did get what I was looking for. My sa was milled out with the extended box to load them long. I ended up going back with the 140 Bergers and Varget. It will shoot them pretty tight. The bc on them is 510 if I remember correct.
 
Looks real nice. Hope its a great shooter for you. I've heard that some 7mm-08 rifles shoot heavy bullets pretty good especially with a slighty faster than normal twist. Are you thinking about 175 gr. bullets?
 
I'm not expecting it to shoot small groups.LOL... maybe it will shoot good enough to kill a deer. I'm going to try 168 gr Berger VLDs. May try somes tipped Barnes also. Although I have had good luck with Hornady 139 gr SST.
