Those guys must know my brother. He's been using that method for years. I've seen him take a brand new rifle out of the box and put a huge deep scratch on the stock with a nail and say, "There, now I don't have to worry about babying it in the woods."
 
Heck he was only shooting about 200yds in real light winds...did you see the tops of the tree barely waving and the extremely powerful impact of the bullet on the steel plate? Most calibers when fired into a steel plate at 700yds DO NOT bounce the plate around so much. It was entertaing and I appreciate you taking the time to share the link! I got a good chuckle ;)
