Generally speaking how many rounds do you shoot before you consider a factory barrel broken in?

I have found that the speed on barrels generally settles down at about 200 rounds.

Never have, just zeroed my scope and went hunting. Most of my rifles I never had to do anything season to season except confirm zero. Of course I don't compete, so a 1" three shot group at 100 yards is GTG for me.
On my .22s it seems around 1000 there's a slight change of speed.
Depends on the barrel manufacturer. Some barrels i have bought have said no break in necessary. Wilson combat is one of those. Generally speaking one hundred rounds in my experience has been plenty to break one in.
I go by what the manufacturer recommends. If you look, you will see there is no general number. What are you going to be breaking in?

My daughter's new deer rifle. I bought her a savage stainless 7mm-08 and we shot a box of shells through it Saturday past. I just wondered on a gun like that how many round most folks called broke in.
Great caliber that will last a lifetime. Which model rifle?
Wipe the oil out, and go to shooting. Rest is a bunch of nonsense.

Absolutely NOT LOL I had a great start, tied for 2nd after the first round, then solid 2nd place after the 2nd, then the wheels fell off.
Just couldn't hold concentration when the conditions changed and lost focus for several shots, and they were on the bonus round, which cost me big time. I fell out like a rock LOL
This is what Savage recommends...
STEP 1 (repeated 10 times)
Fire one round
Push wet patches soaked with a powder solvent through the bore
Push a brush through the bore (5 times in each direction)
Push dry patches through the bore (2 times)
Push wet patches soaked with a copper solvent through the bore
Push a brush through the bore (5 times in each direction)
Push dry patches through the bore (2 times)
Push a patch with 2 drops of oil through the bore
STEP 2 (repeated 5 times)
Fire a 3 shot group
Repeat the cleaning procedure from STEP 1 after each group
STEP 3 (repeat 5 times)
Fire a 5 shot group
Repeat the cleaning procedure from STEP 1
Precision Shooting Magazine also recommends the use of a patch with 2 drops of oil after the cleaning so that you are not shooting with a dry bore. It is also advisable to use a powder solvent and copper solvent from the same manufacturer to be sure they are chemically compatible.

The savage recommendation is the process I've always used.Don't know if it makes any difference but I enjoy it
