Barnes tez

Went shooting today to get dialed in for season. After getting it where I wanted I I decided to load a Barnes tez and shoot it into a stack of magazines. Me and a buddy done this with a 308 Barnes ttsx and recovered the bullet just like they show in the magazine. Hoping to duplicate this I shot it and dug my bullet out. I was definelty not impressed and hope I had a fluke.

Cva optima. 100 grains blackhorn. 250 grain Barnes tez. 100 yards

That's not the expansion they advertise. It certainly didn't explode like a 245 grain Powerbelt lol

It's possible to get a bad one, but next time soak the magazines. They expand much more by hydrolic action. Deer and magazines not a fair comparison.

I'll try the water trick next time. I've shot different calibers doing it like this. Usually just recover a copper mess. No lead. But the 30 cal Barnes we done like this was perfect

Bullet will reliably expand in a hydraulic medium ie flesh. Magazines are not suitable to test expansion. Good to test penetration though.
