On Tar12's recommendation, I'm switching bullets to try the BO .458 300g.

Do I need the semi-spitzer or fn-fb?

Anybody ever recover one of these? I have had pass through on every deer shot with the 300 BO. That is up around 30 deer now and not one recovered bullet.

We had a thread going on over at Dougs about this load. Dwight aka(Rifleman) and I was pushing for people to try this pretty hard. There were over 300 deer killed in that thread and I think 1 BO was recovered. I personally have killed over 80 with it and did not recover one. This load is so accurate and deadly that I did not persue anything else while I shot .50 cals.I prefer 2 holes. IMO,the best load for a .50 cal. It will take a deer out at ANY angle and bust bone like no other with the .032 jacket. It flat kills! If you can not find N-120 look at H-4198 or Reloder-7. H-4198 for speed.Beware that approching the 2500 fps mark that a 300 grn bullet will thump on both ends. This load is not for the recoil sensitive but if you want the most accurate long range load going for the .50 cal here it is.Following is a pic from "The Thanksgiving Day Massacre"using the same load. As dawn broke it was as if someone opened the flood gates and deer started pouring into this creek bottom where I had a stand nestled in a group of maple trees. They were shot at 8 yds,56 yds 82 yards and the last doe did not run far enough and I ranged her at 262 yds. My son texted me right after this and asked if I had done any good. I sent him a pic and he replied that he knew what he was doing today! lol A man could not ask for a better son!

Dang! I haven't had a day like that in years. Whacked 3 twice but never 4 in one day. Must have been a like a shooting gallery.

Actually it would have been more but I only had 4 loads with me! lol It was like a shooting gallery.I counted 19 that morning before I got down to go get the truck and 4 wheeler. This is a very small parcel of land. I am the only one allowed to hunt it. I guard it at all costs. I do not over hunt it. Maybe 4 times a year. I kill deer every single time I am there. We have taken some very nice bucks off of this place over the years.

I forgot to add to the above load recipe some vital 300 yd info. You need to allow for 5-6 inches of wind drift with a 5-8 mph cross wind.

This is my best buck to date. I shot him at sunset yesterday and tracked him to a thicket where we jumped him, so we backed out. Found him this morning but had to finishing shot on him.
