Anyone use the barnes TSX bullets? I'm considering loading some 130 gr. in a 30-06. Thoughts? Thanks for the input.

I use 140 grains in my 7mm/08. They are fine in my book.

I have loaded the 130 Tipped TSX for my 308 and my 300 WSM's. I have one word for you....AWESOME!!!!
A max load of Varget for the 300 WSM's and 1.5 grains under Max for the 308. I can't put any more Varget in the 308 case as this load is a compressed load. No pressure signs out of my Abolt though. 3100+ fps for the 308 and 3500+ fps out of my 300 WSM's.

I load and shoot the 130 gr TSX for my 270 WSM with great accuracy and DEADLY performance so far. I carry some for long range, Elk, and Boar. I think they are overkill for deer here though. My go to bullet for deer this year will be the Hornady 130 gr Interbond for the WSM. They shoot pretty close the same point of impact, but the Interbond is more accurate with my setup, and cheaper. Both are a quality built bullets that will stand up to high velocity impact at close range.
Under 3000 ft per second the game king will be my choice for my 338-06. Bread and butter should be just fine with a 215 gr traveling around 2700 fps.

They're all I shoot at thick skinned game like Hogs, Elk, etc. Haven't tried them on Whitetails because so many other bullets, like the Hornady Interlocks, perform so well on thin skinned game.

I've been using them on Whitetails for almost 15 years (shoot 150 gr X, now TSX in a 284 Winchester custom A bolt with 54 gr. h380 @ 2850 fps) as well as hogs amd mule deer. Have never needed a followup shot and they don't tear big holes. They're all I use. Also have a 7 Mag- same bullet with excellent results. My son shoots a 7/08 with the same bullet, lots of 1 shot kills, deer seldon go more than a few steps.
Thanks for the info. Been shooting 150 gr NBT which are great. Changed to the 150 accubond which I hate. Barnes are on the way.

I like the TSX. i ordered another box this summer for the fall. I shoot 7mm-08 obviously, in a 140g.
I shot a 120# field dressed buck last year about 40 yards away that was quartering towards me. Bullet went in his left front between the shoulder and neck low. I was sitting on the ground. It took out his heart (top or atrium), portion of the liver, and dropped the right lung and exited leaving a quarter size hole. The deer turned and ran about 10 yards. The bullet performed well in my only experience with it.
The only downside is that you have to obviously clean your barrel well because they are 100% copper and that material left in a barrel can apparently become an accuracy problem.
