I looked at the weather forecast all day yesterday and they couldn't make up their mind when and how much rain we would get in Claiborne County, so I elected to start the day off in an old barn on a farm I have permission to hunt on. Plenty of scratching in the cow manure when I had my son up there, so I figured "why not?". Heard three different birds, only one of which I thought might play. I let him know I was waiting for him and shut up. He didn't gobble after he hit the ground until he was 50 yards out. I clucked softly to him and took the shot at 30 yards. It was a quick hunt at 6:50, but you have to love it when it works out right! 10" beard, .5" spurs, 20 lbs. Blessed once again!
