most important thing is to use separate bedding gloves than you use for baiting

GH-II has been a winner for me.

I have been using natural baits. Dead mouse in dirt hole set. Venison or beaver chunks. Snares leading to a gut pile.
Splash of fox urine or beaver castor as a lure.

WHERE your trap is set is the most important thing.
#1. lure has to be upwind of where the critters will naturally walk.
#2. Trap has to be very close to where they naturally want to walk.

Once I figured out #1, started having a lot more action at my sets. Once I figured out (still figuring) #2 I started getting catches instead of walk bys, and empty fired traps.

Also make sure your foot hold traps are bedded rock solid and even or slightly below the ground level.

I was having dig outs when using peat moss to bed the trap, and any trap that was slightly wobbly was either dug up or fired and empty.
Don't over camoflauge your trap with anything that might get caught in the jaws keeping them from closing. No pebbles/sticks etc...

Hawbakers canine all call. Cheap and effective. I also agree with the mouse down the hole. Back when I ran a trapline every winter. I trapped barn rats for bait in the summer and froze them.

I use Mark June lures on dirt hole sets. Canine Candy and Predator frenzy are excellent. I place one of the scents on lambs wool and place in the hole, for the backing I will use another scent or urine.

Hard to beat Widow Maker bait to.

Thanks guys I think I'm going to go with one of the Mark June's lure I have been using natural bait for my sets and some fox or coyote urine. All I have caught is a fox and had my bait stolen when the ground froze but I think it was something like a coon or opossum but not sure.
