Bad shot!!!

Just got home from the woods. Had a deer walking away, quartering shot. Some how I shot high behind the shoulder. Found my arrow, broke off, looks like 6-7 inches penetration. Checked immediate area and found no blood. Didn't pursue it in case he laid down. Have I just wounded this deer? I hate to lose an animal, but I'm sick over him suffering over a bad shot. Only thing I can figure is I used the wrong pin. Going back first light to hopefully recover him, but I'm not very optimistic after seeing the hit and finding most of my arrow.3rd deer shot this year with my new Chill R and 2 blade Rage. The other two were pass thru's and piled up in sight of my stand. I'm really sick over this!!!

Hard to say, that's enough penetration to get the job done but depending on how high it was you might not have hit any vitals

Okay, started at daylight. No blood to be found. I could find where he run after the shot then it looked like he circled back up hill. My partner jumped a bedded deer 200yds from the shot. Said it was the same buck on camera, same one I shot. Deer ran up hill he said. We looked till 11am. Quit so they could hunt the afternoon. Hopefully he'll make it. It's a nice 7.

I'd bet he'll shake it off. Sorry you had a shot go awry. I am too familiar with the feeling, and know how much it sucks. But from what you describe, he'll limp for a little while, and someday someone will find an extra broadhead in the deer they are field dressing. It will have a bunch of tissue grown around it.

Shake it off...I lost one in 2011 due to bad shot. It's tough but you're not the first one to make a bad shot.

He Lives!! Got him on camera 3 nights in a row! Has a hump high on his back, video looks like he's ok. Gonna try another shot at him his week, what a relief!!
