I just bought a box of Barnes Vor-TX in .260 Remington. One round had a broken tip, and one was in a .243 Winchester Remington stamped case. Anyone else have issues with their loaded rounds?

BTW, the box was taped from the store, and did not appear to have been tampered with.

Have you tried to give Barnes a call and see what they will do for you? Things happen even with the best QC. I've honestly never had many issues with loaded ammo, and mostly reload everything now, so can't give any more insight than to call Barnes and ask.

Sent them an email. They don't have anyone answering phones Friday through Sunday. Will see what happens. I was going to try the loaded stuff to see if I like it before I loaded any. If it wasn't taped cleanly, I would probably assume that it was the store's fault.

I feel like Barnes will make it right. Just curious if anyone had seen similar issues.

I have a lot of friends that love the Barnes stuff and swear by it, but I haven't used any to say one way or the other. Partly because the Sierra and Nosler stuff works so well never had a reason to change, and partly because it tends to be more expensive than I can afford to shoot in the quantities I tend to. Never have heard anyone complain about Barnes or their customer service.

I'm sure they will make good, all the big houses do. I had a misfire once with a 460 mag Horndy. Call, sent one round back and recieved a box in return. I'm sure Barnes will cover you.

My first thought too, but this retail store tapes the box before stocking shelves. There was one piece of clean tape on each end. Nothing about the tape looked like someone had fooled with it. No word from barnes yet. Probably call them tomorrow.

I wonder if an idiot salesperson tampered and than taped. I'm not sure who makes the Barnes brass but I've heard it's hornady. Can't confirm that. Woulda been a dangerous situation had you shot it. Glad I reload everything

Update:

I heard from Barnes. They said Remington was contracted to load the Barnes bullets in the Vor-TX ammo, and they were going to investigate the issue and speak with Remington's QC people. They wanted pictures of the rounds and a lot #, so they could compensate me. I didn't ask what kind of compensation, but they were right on top of it.

I will give them an A+ for customer service.

Going to have to change my rating of Barnes customer service. I have a $50 box of shells that I'm afraid to fire because of 2 bad rounds in the same box (one in the wrong brass, possibly wrong caliber).

As "compensation", they sent me 5 loaded rounds in a sandwich bag, a bottle of solvent, and 2 stickers. The box the stuff came in was crushed as well. Who knows how that happened?

I saw on here where a member sent back one Hornady round and received a full box in return. No more Barnes for me. I guess I'm a Hornady man from here on.
