Bad 2 Days

So I had one of my cameras out=stolen. [emoji30].

Then today I thought my luck had changed. I had just sat down, trying to get my camera sat up and here came a buck!!

I dropped the camera and shot offhand at about 60 yards. He bucked up in the air and ran off. I was able to see him then he went behind some trees.

Took me awhile but I finally picked up a blood trail. Not a very thick one just lots of bright red drops. Just before dark I lost it. It just ended with two drops. I walked along the creek, through ditches. I even went back and got on my hands and knees nothing. That is the first deer I've ever lost. [emoji30]

Took my hound back with me this morning and still didn't find the buck. I'm pretty sure I either just skimmed him or he wasn't hit in the vitals. I hit him with a 300 grain Powerbelt. Not sure even if it was gut shot how it would have survived that?

Anyway, for the third day in a row it got worse. When I got back to the car covered in sweat, I realized that my car keys were gone, my dog's leash, and my ramrod! I dumped all my gear and gun, and went back to look for my keys. I found the leash right off. About a hundred yards from where I leave the woods I found my ramrod and car keys. I should have traced backwards, but I was afraid I wouldn't recognize the path I took if I did. The good ending was I found my stuff and was able to drive home. Probably going down to Roane county tomorrow up on the mountain.

The day my camera was stolen, I went down to some TVA land to look around. A year or so back, they put up the TVA signs on the property and their four wheeler trail was pretty nice. Fast forward to this year, and I'll bet there is at least 10 good sized trees across the trail. I just don't know how I would get a deer out of there without the four wheeler. I'm pondering going down after church on Sunday with a chainsaw.

I don't know what TVA property you are talking about, but most of the time ATV traffic isn't allowed on TVA property. I have a deer cart and a frame pack, and have humped deer out of TVA land for close to a mile to get back to my boat.

I'm sure the trees are there to keep ATV traffic out. I would leave them alone and ack out the deer.
