not too surprised by the rankings. figured elk would be at the top and whitetail and sheep near the bottom, although I figured antelope would be lower. wish they would have included blacktail in their comparison

Interesting, but I wonder what differences(if any) whitetail in different regions of the country have in taste. Personally, I don't think I have ever had any other than South Alabama deer.

Huge difference! Ive eaten whitetail that fed 90% on alfalfa that tasted much different, better as well, than our acorn fed deer.

Same thing for a high country muley versus one that hangs out around ranches.

here is a pretty good discussion of whitetail versus blacktail. I have always read that blacktail was Cadillac of the deer family in regards to meat quality. cold be the cold climate and subsequent quick cooling

I haven't heard a lot f great things about mule deer. When my parents lived I Alaska, they seemed to think that caribou was the best
